Welcome to another edition of Deskwarming Diaries! Today, Jayelon left school early to make better use of her time. Let’s jump in!
I did get a little bit of work done before I left; I printed off a bunch of flags to make flashcards for next year. I’m hoping to use them a bit more in my classes. I want my kids to get curious about the world outside of Japan!
After a while, I got a little sleepy, so I went into the back of the teachers’ room to get some hot water for my instant coffee. I was greeted with a nice surprise! The teachers responsible for the Sensei Shokudō had bought coffee and tea for everyone!
When I sat back down to work on my flashcards, one of my coworkers came over and said, “You know… you could go home… You work so hard and you don’t have much to even do, right? Take care of yourself. Take a rest.”
So I reached a stopping point, turned in my ‘time-off’ sheet, and left at lunch. I obviously don’t need much convincing! I would’ve held out a bit longer, but I didn’t even have the Sensei Shokudō to look forward to. Add to that the gorgeous, warm, sunny weather and I was sold.
Sushi, sushi, sushi
So what was lunch, you ask? I went home, picked up Hunter, and we went out for conveyer-belt sushi! It’s cheap, fast, fun, and one of our favorite meals. However, it was a little odd this time… Because of Covid-19, the conveyer belt wasn’t actually running… All of the sushi was made to order and delivered straight to our table by the little shinkansen that runs above the belt. It was kinda nice because it meant that all the sushi was nice and fresh, but it did defeat the whole purpose of going to that restaurant haha. I’m looking forward to when things go back to normal!
Tomorrow’s plan
When I turned in my time-off sheet, I went ahead and took tomorrow off too; no more deskwarming this week! Not completely positive what Hunter and I will do, but we’ll figure it out. It looks like it’s about to snow again, so we have to make the most of the recent nice weather!
Until next time!
